Police officer charged with rape

November 06, 1990

A four-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department has been charged with the abduction and rape of a Norfolk, Va., waitress while attending a police conference there.

Officer Gary Doucette, 30, assigned to the Woodlawn District, was arrested yesterday and was being held at the Towson District lockup without bail pending an extradition hearing.

No date has been set for the hearing.

According to Norfolk police, a 25-year-old waitress at the Waterside Holiday Inn reported meeting Doucette, who was attending a regional police conference in Norfolk last week.

Police said the woman told them that on Oct. 28, she accepted a dinner date with Doucette and accompanied him to his room at the downtown Madison Hotel so that he could change his clothes.

The woman alleged that Doucette prevented her from leaving the room and raped her, police said.
