Polling places

Polling places throughout the state will open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Your voter registration card identifies the place where you are supposed to vote. You may vote even if you do not possess a voter's registration card, if you have voted in the last five years and have not changed your address.

Election boards

Local elections boards are staffed today to answer questions about eligibility to vote, where to vote and other questions or complaints that may arise. Here is a list of telephone numbers for election boards in the Baltimore metropolitan area:

* Baltimore County 887-5210

* Carroll County 857-2080

* Harford County 838-1520

* Howard County 313-2727

The main state election board number in Annapolis is 974-3711.

School closings

Most public-school students throughout the state will have a day off for Election Day so that schools can be used as polling places. But schools in Calvert, Caroline, Kent, Talbot, Dorchester and Worcester counties will remain open.

TV and radio coverage

*ABC (WJZ-Channel 13): 10-11 p.m., resumes with "Nightline" at 11:30. Local cut-ins between 8 and 8:30, 9 and 9:30 and between 10 and 11 p.m.

*CBS (WBAL-Channel 11): 9-11 p.m., resumes at 11:30 p.m. Local cut-ins at 8:02, 9:23, 9:53 and 10:23 p.m.

*NBC (WMAR-Channel 2): 10-11 p.m., resumes at midnight. Local cut-ins at 8:55, 9:55 and 10:25.

*CNN: 6 p.m.-1 a.m.

*C-SPAN: From 6:30 p.m. on.

*COMCAST (Channel 10 in Baltimore County): Reports at 8:25 p.m., 8:55, 9:25, 9:55, 10:25 10:55, 11:25 and 11:55 p.m.

*WBAL-AM (1090 kHz): 8 p.m.-midnight.
