BALTIMORE — Man found slain on Gutman Avenue

City police are searching for suspects in the early-morning murder of an unidentified man whose bullet-riddled body was found yesterday in front of a house in the 600 block of Gutman Avenue.

nTC The victim, whose name is being withheld by police pending notification of his next of kin, was found about 4:20 a.m. The man, who was about 30 years old, suffered at least one gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Witnesses told police that the murder followed a brief argument at the house, after which shots were fired.

Hillcrest Heights man shot dead in parking lot


Prince George's County police said they had neither a suspect nor a motive yesterday in the shooting death of a man in the parking lot of a Capitol Heights apartment building Saturday evening.

Police said the victim, David Alvin Dillard, 35, of Hillcrest Heights, was standing in a parking lot at 4200 Southern Ave. about 10:45 p.m. when he was fatally shot by an unknown assailant.


Lotto jackpot increases to estimated $8 million

No one correctly matched the six numbers drawn Saturday night in the Maryland Lotto game, raising the jackpot for this week to an estimated $8 million, a state lottery spokesman announced yesterday.

Ninety-two winning Lotto tickets had five of the six numbers and are worth $1,155, while 4,891 tickets had four of the numbers and are worth $37 each.

The winning numbers were 5-14-17-24-40-45.

Man struck, killed while crossing U.S. 29


State police were trying to determine the identity of an unidentified pedestrian who was struck and killed by an automobile last night as he was walking across U.S. 29, near Tech Road in the area of Silver Spring.

Police said the victim, described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, was walking west across the highway at 6:20 p.m. when he was struck by the southbound car.

Woman's status critical after bludgeoning


A 25-year-old woman found bludgeoned Saturday morning in the Brooklyn Park area remained in critical condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, authorities said.

The woman -- identified as Dawn Marie Gallis of Jessup -- wafound by an employee of Donaldson's Glass & Mirror Co. in the 4700 block of Belle Grove Road who noticed a puddle of blood on the ground with traces leading into the nearby woods.

When Anne Arundel County police responded about 7:30 a.m., they found Ms. Gallis alive but having trouble breathing.

Police said they were not sure why the woman was in Brooklyn Park and did not know the motive for the attack.
