Arundel dance ends with shooting, injuries

Four people were injured early yesterday morning when someone opened fire during a dance at the Meade Village Community Center in Anne Arundel County.

Police said two 20-year-olds from Prince George's County were shot, a 17-year-old girl from Severn was grazed by a bullet that richocheted and a 12-year-old girl from Annapolis was hurt diving to the ground.

Police had few details. A fight broke out at 12:30 a.m. during the dance, police said, and several shots were fired, but no one was hit then.

After the fight broke up, one of those involved went outside and fired several shots through a side door, hitting the victims, police said. They said no one could provide any description of the person responsible.

Alanda Clifford, 20, of the 2300 block Swann Road, Suiltland, was shot in the left thigh. She was taken to a hospital and listed in good condition, police said.

Tyrone Fraizer, 20, of the 800 block Quade Street, Forrest Heights, was shot in the left knee. Police said he was treated at the scene.

Anika Calvert, 17, of the 1800 block Clear Water Court, Severn, suffered a cut from a bullet which bounced off a wall. Police said she also was treated at the scene.

Kenya Thompson, 12, of the 200 block Croll Drive, Annapolis, suffered a minor head injury diving to the floor. She refused treatment at the scene, police said.
