FORT WASHINGTON -- Die Laughing, who has the No. 1 post, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite over eight other 2-year-old pacers in tonight's $298,345 Presidential Stakes at Rosecroft Raceway.

Die Laughing won the Woodrow Wilson Pace at the Meadowlands this year, accounting for most of his $816,750 career earnings. He has won five of seven other starts, and generally is regarded as the nation's top juvenile pacer.

The colt warmed up for tonight's final with a victory in a Presidential preliminary at Rosecroft last week, winning in 1 minute, 54 2/5 seconds.

Cambest, 12-for-16, figures to be the main opposition. The Cam Fella colt drew post No. 7.

Dick Silverman will drive Die Laughing, and Dave Rankin will handle Cambest.

The Presidential will be the 11th of 13 races. The co-feature, the $144,701 First Lady Pace for 2-year-old fillies, is the sixth race.
