Perrins quits as announcer, will return to New Mexico

LAUREL -- Milo Perrins said yesterday that he has resigned as track announcer at Laurel and Pimlico race courses to return to New Mexico, effective at the end of November.

Perrins, who succeeded Robin Burns as regular announcer at Maryland's major tracks in July 1989, said he will take similar jobs at The Downs in Santa Fe and The Downs at Albuquerque.

"That's where I worked before coming east," he said. "I worked in the racing secretary's office at those two tracks, and I called some races. I'll go back as the announcer for both of them. It's a 10-month circuit."

Perrins said his wife, Kathie, will begin teaching there.
