Fifteen years ago, the Citizens Planning and Housing Association had a hand in Baltimore's revitalization through a little book called "Bawlamer." It was a guide to city living, full of quirky observations and usable tips.
CPHA has now come out with another guide which can make a difference. "Take This School and Love It" is a reference manual on the city public school system, a tool that will be invaluable in turning the school system around.
The book, printed through funding from the United Way, will be introduced today at an all-day workshop at Harford Heights Elementary School. It reflects CPHA's growing sense of optimism that the city's troubled schools can be fixed.
