Ch. 11 lets viewers decide what game they watch

November 02, 1990|By Phil Jackman

Yes, you too will be able to call the shots at a television station, just like the bigwigs at the networks in New York City.

WBAL-TV, the local CBS affiliate, gave its viewers the option of which game to watch last Sunday at 1 p.m. and the good-till-the-last-play Philadelphia vs. Dallas game won in a walk over Minnesota vs. Green Bay. Good call!

A week from Sunday, after Atlanta and Chicago get done bashing heads in a 1 p.m. game, Channel 11 viewers will have the option of either Green Bay vs. Los Angeles Raiders or New York Giants vs. L.A. Rams. Tough decision.

"Any time we have the option, we'll pass it on to the fans," says station manager Dave Barrett. "And it won't cost them anything since it's a local call [832-1200, ext. 9225]. There is a station that made it a 900 number to make some money off it."

The lines will be open from the "Sports Final Show" this Sunday night through Monday night.
