John P. Wisniewski Retired Army colonel

Retired Col. John P. Wisniewski, who served in the Army Corps of Engineers, died Saturday at Children's Hospital. He had been ill with meningitis.

A Mass of Christian burial for Colonel Wisniewski, who was 75 and lived on Fleet Street, was offered yesterday at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

He was born in Baltimore, graduated from Loyola High School and attended the Maryland Institute.

Colonel Wisniewski was commissioned after completing officer-candidate school during World War II. During the war, he served in the China-Burma-India theater. Later, he served in Europe, South America, Central America and Vietnam.

After the war, he worked for the Baltimore City Planning Department until he was recalled to active duty during the Korean War.

In retirement, he became active in the Polish Heritage Association of Maryland.

His survivors include several cousins.
