Henry Ritz, paint firm executive, dies

October 31, 1990

A Mass of Christian burial for Henry C. Ritz, retired vice president for sales of the Baltimore Paint and Chemical Co., will be offered at 11 a.m. today in the chapel at the Stella Maris Hospice, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road.

Mr. Ritz, who was 84 and lived in the Dulaney Towers Condominiums and Apartments, died of cancer Sunday at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

He retired from the paint and chemical company about 18 years ago, ending a career that began when he went to work as a youth for the Murphy Varnish Co. in Newark, N.J., a predecessor of Baltimore Paint and Chemical.

The Bloomfield, N.J., native came to Baltimore in 1953.

After retiring, Mr. Ritz volunteered for the Stella Maris Auxiliary, chairing bull roasts and working with residents and in the offices.

His wife, the former Mary Ellen Glynn, died in 1980.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol L. Fautsch of Bala-Cynwyd, Pa.; five nieces; and a nephew.
