Anti-freeze Collection

October 31, 1990

Carroll County has initiated a used anti-freeze collection program operated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Maryland Environmental Service. Containers have been placed at Northern Landfill and Hoods Mill Landfill to collect used anti-freeze from county residents.

There will be no charge at landfills for homeowners to deposit used anti-freeze.

Only anti-freeze may be emptied into the 55-gallon containers, which are well marked and located near the used oil tanks.

All collected anti-freeze will be recycled.

The implementation of the anti-freeze program expands Carroll's efforts to keep the environment safe and clean.

The used oil collection program, begun in January 1990, has been very successful, with more than 7,000 gallons of used oil collected so far.
