Get-ups Win Children Prizes At County Bash

Thousands of children flocked to downtown Glen Burnie on Sunday to participate in County Executive O. James Lighthizer's sixth annual Children's Halloween Safety Party.

Michelangelo, the evil Shredder and April O'Neil of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame entertained the children, as did Ronald McDonald.

Booths from local community organizations and services were on hand as well as literature on targeting children on how to have a safe Halloween.

Winners of the Halloween costume parades received a $35 gift certificate from Lionel Kidde City and the group winners received a $100 gift certificate from Lionel Kidde City.

Judges were made up of local community leaders and other volunteers.

The winners, by age group, were: Up to 2 years old Most Original -- Samantha Beatty of Glen Burnie, 11 months old, dressed as a clown in a wagon taxi.

Most Attractive -- Kelsey Sousa of Glen Burnie, 2, dressed as a princess with a frog.

Funniest -- Amy Blair of Baltimore, 13 months old, dressed as a jack-in-the-box.

Cutest -- Samantha Hudgins of Severna Park, 17 months old, dressed as a pink flower.

Best Ninja Turtle -- Christopher Pendleton of Glen Burnie.

Age 3 to 4 years old: Most Original -- Cas Smith of Pasadena, 4, dressed as Wizard.

Most Attractive -- Chauntay Green of Arnold, 3, dressed as an angel.

Funniest -- Jonathan Green of Glen Burnie, 4, dressed as a fire hydrant.

Cutest -- Michelle Laque of Baltimore, 4, dressed as Little Bo-Peep.

Best Ninja Turtle -- Buddy Miller of Pasadena, 4 Ages 5 to 6 years old: Most Original -- Kelly McCartin of Glen Burnie, 5, dressed as an equestrian.

Most Attractive -- Jessica Trayer of Glen Burnie, 5, dressed as Rapunzel.

Funniest -- Lee A. Cook III of Stevensville, 6, dressed as Beetlejuice.

Scariest -- April Bohle of Pasadena, 6, dressed as a mummy.

Best Ninja Turtle -- Paul Weldon of Baltimore, 6 Ages 7 to 8 years old: Most Original -- Christine Rodney of Glen Burnie, 7, dressed as a lion.

Most Attractive -- Kristina Arnold of Odenton, 8, dressed as the Statue of Liberty.

Funniest -- Leslie Holtz of Glen Burnie, 8, dressed as a clown.

Best Ninja Turtle -- Billy Othemal of Pasadena, 8.

Age 9 to 12 years old: Most Original -- Susan Manning of Glen Burnie, 9, dressed as the mythological creature Medusa.

Most Attractive -- Amanda Braun of Glen Burnie, 9, dressed as Glenda, the good witch from the Wizard of Oz.

Funniest -- Lisa Schem of Glen Burnie, 10, dressed as an old, ugly bride.

Scariest -- Bradley Bohle of Glen Burnie, 10, dressed as a tall alien.

Best Ninja Turtle -- Andy De Greck of Pasadena, 12.

The award for best overall group went to the Humpty Dumpty group of Dana and Dallas Frye of Severn and Kristy French of Baltimore.
