New projects

Hanover Street Bridge (Route 2, Baltimore): Rehabilitation work begins tomorrow and will take approximately 18 months. Bridge will remain open, but there will be lane reductions in both directions, with occasional weekend closures.

Cold Spring Lane bridge over Stony Run: Bridge replacement begins Nov. 1. Cold Spring Lane now closed to westbound traffic at Charles Street (reopens in approximately six months). East- and westbound traffic on Cold Spring Lane will operate on north side of roadway when work begins on southern portion of bridge. The project will be completed in about oneyear.

Toll facilities

Bay Bridge (U.S. 50/301): Eastbound toll plaza unde reconstruction: single-lane closures Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Key Bridge (Interstate 695): All week, dawn to dusk, one lane closed in each direction on bridge for construction at toll plaza.


Northeast side: Delays and single-lane closures, Bel Air Road to Perring Parkway, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

West side: Ramp from westbound Interstate 70 onto outer loop closed; detours from Security Boulevard to Ingleside Avenue to U.S. 40 to Beltway. Ramp from inner loop to westbound I-70 also closed; detours posted.

Interstate 95: Possible lane closings on Susquehanna bridge. Periodic lane closures elsewhere in Baltimore/Harford counties. Off-peak closings between Beltway and White Marsh Boulevard for median construction. South of Baltimore, new traffic patterns divide through travel lanes on I-95 northbound and southbound between I-195 (to airport) and I-695. In Howard County, two-lane closures northbound 8 p.m.-5 a.m., Monday through Friday, for repaving.

Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (U.S. 40): Construction continues on toll plaza; one lane closed in each direction on bridge for sandblasting and painting.

Anne Arundel County

U.S. 50/301: Westbound U.S. 50/301 relocated to right. Ramp tsouthbound Route 2 exits from left lane. Ridgely Avenue bridge over U.S. 50/301 closed. Interchanges with Patuxent Boulevard (Route 665) and Interstate 97 complete; all ramps open.

Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Route 295): Work is under way on diamond interchange at parkway and Routes 100/176. Single lane closures along northbound and southbound Route 295, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Route 3: Extensive construction between Beltway and Route 32 (highway being upgraded to interstate). Benfield Road interchange relocated.

Route 10: Extensive construction on southern extension near Jumpers Hole Road and Ritchie Highway. In same area, westbound lanes on Route 100 remain shifted over Jumpers Hole.


Charles Street: Lane reductions continue in both directions from Homeland Avenue to city line. Work should be completed in December.

Baltimore Street between Calvert and Gay streets: Lane restrictions daily, particularly during non-peak hours, for subway construction (through Feb. 1).

Lexington Street between Gay Street and Frederick Street: Closed until late November for construction of parking garage.

Mulberry Street (U.S. 40, downtown Baltimore): Closed between Greene and St. Paul Streets.

Baltimore County

Fairmont Avenue: closed to westbound traffic from Joppa Road to York Road. Work will be completed mid-January.

Paper Mill Road (Baltimore County): Repairs to bridge over Loch Raven Reservoir continue. Bridge will remain closed until March. Span has been closed to repair deteriorated deck and floor beams.

Route 45: Cockeysville underpass is closed and traffic has been detoured outside existing underpass.

Cecil County

Route 7: Bridge work over Amtrak near Bacon Hill, south oElkton. Existing bridge will be demolished and is closed to traffic (completion date: November 1991).
