Neighborhood Rentals celebrates 100th home
Neighborhood Rental Services of Baltimore Inc. -- a community-based non-profit company -- will celebrate the renovation of its 100th home Friday at 501 N. Patterson Park Ave.
The company develops, renovates and manages housing for low- and moderate-income families in Baltimore.
It targets vacant, blighted houses in the Patterson Park and Middle East neighborhoods for development into rental units.
Families moving into NRS rentals have annual incomes of about $11,000 and many are at least 50 percent below the median per capita income for Baltimore.
By the end of the year, Neighborhood Rental Services expects to be managing 105 units, having made almost $3 million in improvements to these homes.
Real estate libraries offer free seminar
Consumer Housing Libraries will offer a free seminar on how mortgage lenders determine how much a home buyer can afford to spend on a house.
The session will explain the income-to-debt ratios that lenders use in qualifying buyers for a home loan.
The seminar, entitled "Determining How Much Home You can Afford With Mortgage Vision," will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Consumer Housing Library at 12501 Prosperity Drive, Silver Spring.
