Sister Miriam Nurse, youth worker

A Mass of Christian burial for Sister Miriam Henderson, O.S.F., a native of Baltimore who was a nurse and also worked with youths, will be offered at 11 a.m. today in the Chapel of Our Lady of Angels Convent, the motherhouse of her order in Aston, Pa.

Sister Miriam, who was 52, died Thursday of cancer at Assisi House, the retirement home of her order, the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia.

The former Joan Kathleen Henderson was born in Baltimore and was a graduate of the nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital.

She entered the order in 1959 and worked at a hospital in Philadelphia, then at St. Joseph in Towson in 1965 and 1966.

Then she worked with youth in Hopewell, N.J., and later at the Child Development Center at her order's Neumann College in Aston.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Moore of Perryville and Sister Paul Carmelia Henderson, O.S.F., of Wilmington; and two brothers, Gerald Henderson of Forest Hill and Barney Henderson of the Baltimore area.
