Sophomores Mamo, White win Baltimore County crowns Cross country

Two sophomores, Milford Mill's Mike Mamo and Dulaney's Amanda White, won the Baltimore County Cross Country Championships yesterday at Hereford, each for the first time.

Mamo, who completed the three-mile course in 16 minutes, 1 seconds, upset defending champion Brian Horn of Loch Raven, beating him by 11 seconds.

White, the pre-race favorite, shattered the girls' meet record for a three-mile course by 44 seconds. Finishing in 18:26, White beat second-place finisher and defending champ Lauren Mross of Towson by 2:09.

Dulaney won its seventh girls team title in 10 years, beating No. 2 Perry Hall, 36-71. Dulaney's other top finishers were Dishina Dixon (seventh) and Lea Aschkenas (ninth). The Lions placed five runners in the top 14.

In the boys team race, Perry Hall won its fifth straight title, edging Loch Raven, 51-56. Ryan McCluskey was Perry Hall's top scorer, finishing fourth behind Lansdowne's Jason Cox.
