* Toronto Blue Jays -- Named Rich Hacker third-base coach.

BASKETBALL (NBA) * League -- Fined Mark Bryant (Portland Trail Blazers forward) and suspended him from regular-season opener for fighting during a preseason game.

FOOTBALL (NFL) * Detroit Lions -- Waived John Miller (safety) and William Judson cornerback).

* Los Angeles Raiders -- Placed Andy Parker (tight end) on injured reserve. Signed Ken Whisenhunt (tight end). Signed Garry Lewis (cornerback) and Rich Bartlewski (tight end) to their practice squad.

* New England Patriots -- Activated Zeke Mowatt (tight end) from injured reserve.

* Phoenix Cardinals -- Placed Don Holmes (wide receiver) and Jeroy Robinson (linebacker) on injured reserve. Activated Ron Wolfley (running back) from injured reserve. Signed Craig Patterson (nose tackle). Placed Stanley Blair (cornerback) on the practice squad.

HOCKEY (NHL) * League -- Suspended Dave Manson (Chicago Blackhawks defenseman) for four games for deliberately attempting to injure Toronto's Drake Berehowsky on Oct. 20.

* Pittsburgh Penguins -- Agreed to terms with Paul Coffey (defenseman) on a multi-year contract.
