Severna Park tops North County, 1-0

Senior Darren Mallinson tapped in a loose ball with 3 minutes, 18 seconds left, and visiting and No. 5 Severna Park edged No. 4 North County, 1-0, in an Anne Arundel County Class 4A boys soccer game yesterday.

The two teams entered the game unbeaten (6-0) in county play. North County (10-1 overall), a first-year school created by the merger of Andover and Brooklyn Park, still can secure the top seeding in the upcoming Class 4A, Region IV playoffs with a win today over Chesapeake.

Elsewhere, No. 7 Dulaney (9-1-1, 8-0-1) edged host Perry Hall (8-2-1, 6-2-1), 2-1, in a Baltimore County 4A/3A League game. Chas Zimmerman scored off a Craig Laferty throw-in with one minute remaining for the victory. Perry Hall had tied the game 32 minutes into the second half on Aaron Grayson's unassisted goal.

In Baltimore County 2A/1A League action, No. 10 Overlea (9-1-2) and host Towson (7-4-1) played to a 1-1 tie.

The 2A/1A League contest between Loch Raven (7-2) and Hereford (6-2-2) was postponed because of poor field conditions. The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Loch Raven.
