County Council Election '90

October 25, 1990

In the First District, we endorse Democrat George F. Bachman. His long service as a councilman, from 1965 to 1982, including his many years as council chairman, is a qualification that Republican Gerald P. Starr, a financial administrator, cannot match.

We heartily support Republican Ernest C. Michaelson, an environmental consultant, in the Second District, over Democratic nominee Edward Middlebrooks, a lawyer whose obeisance to Circuit Court Clerk H. Erle Schafer is troubling.

In the Third District, the incumbent Democrat, Edward C. Ahern, does not deserve another term. Republican Carl G. Holland, a longtime community activist, is our choice.

Democratic incumbent David G. Boschert, a banker, is unopposed in the Fourth District.

Voters in Arundel's Fifth District have two good candidates, Diane Evans and Linda Gilligan. Our support goes to Ms. Evans, the Republican, because of her years of outstanding service in county government.

Democrat Maureen Lamb's tenure on the county council since 1982 has been commendable and should be extended in the Sixth District.

And in the Seventh District, the veteran incumbent, Democrat Virginia P. Clagett, has been a standout performer on the council, well deserving of re-election over Republican John J. Klocko III.
