Quiet American ruled out of Breeders'

October 24, 1990|By Los Angeles Times

NEW YORK -- An international selection committee that is determining the remaining five starters has ruled against Quiet American being in the field for the Breeders' Cup Classic at Belmont Park on Saturday. Trainer Gary Jones' 4-year-old colt didn't have enough points to earn one of the first nine spots.

Quiet American has won only once in five starts this year, but has beaten Bayakoa and finished second to Dispersal in the Woodward Handicap at Belmont on Sept. 15.
