Cemetery Seeks Money

October 24, 1990

WESTMINSTER - Hoping to restore the city's cemetery, members of the Westminster Cemetery Co. board are seeking $50,000 in a community fund-raising drive.

Among the intended improvements are a fence for the property, repaving the cemetery road and re-installing the original entrance gate after repairing it, said George A. Billingslea, board president.

In addition, the board would like to place some historic markers on selected grave sites of people important to the history of Westminster, the site of the old Union Meeting House and the old brick school house.

Although the cost for these renovations is likely to exceed $50,000, Billingslea said the board will pay for anything above and beyond that amount.

Board members also are looking for cemetery plotholders to update their deed records.
