Construction of the new Baltimore-Washington International Airport parking garage has reached the halfway point, airport officials said yesterday.
Construction on the $29 million, four-level garage began in November 1989, and will add 2,800 more parking spaces for BWI travelers. The third floor of the garage will house the rental car pick-up and delivery area.
The garage is located directly in front of the terminal building.
Completion is scheduled for the fall of 1991.
Deputy Administrator Nicholas Schaus said, "I am very pleased with the construction progress. If this weather continues to cooperate, it would certainly benefit the construction schedule over the winter."
The garage, designed by Greiner Inc., of Timonium, Md., is being built by Centex Construction Co. Inc., of Merrifield, Va. Construction management is by the Ralph M. Parsons Co., of Washington.
