October 23, 1990|By Nestor Aparicio

* WHEN: Tonight, 7:35.

* WHERE: The Spectrum.

* TV/RADIO: Ch. 20; WCAO-AM 600.

* OUTLOOK: After a 2-5 start, the Capitals are suddenly hot with a pair of Patrick Division home wins over the Islanders and Devils. However, they will play tonight without top-scoring right wing Dino Ciccarelli (broken thumb) and tough guy Alan May (bruised knuckle). Ciccarelli is out for six to eight weeks. Soviet defenseman Mikhail Tatarinov will play his first game for the Caps (4-5) tonight. This is the first meeting of the year with the first-place Flyers (6-2), who are expected to be without top scorer Tim Kerr, whose wife Kathy died last week after giving birth. The Flyers are also without goalie Ron Hextall (pulled groin muscle) and highly touted rookie center Mike Ricci (broken finger).
