Baltimore City

RAPE/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station in connection with a rape that occurred inside a house in the 1500 block of Baldwin St. between Sunday night and yesterday morning. Police said the victim was at Pratt and Monroe streets Sunday night when she accepted a ride from a man who drove her to his home. There, police said, the couple engaged in sex. Later, the woman reported to police that the man threatened her with a knife and demanded more sex but that she refused. Police said the woman then telephoned a girlfriend who lives on St. Paul Street and told her where she was and that she feared for her life. Police said the friend looked out her window while talking to the victim and saw a police car parked nearby. The friend summoned the officer, who talked to the rape victim on the phone and learned her location. Police were sent to the Baldwin Street address, where they forced their way in and arrested the man.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Arthur Cribbs, 35, of the 1800 block of E. 30th St., reported that he was home around 2 a.m. yesterday when a man broke in by forcing open a door and attacked him with a knife. Police said after the intruder stabbed Cribbs at least twice in the stomach, he fled the scene. Police said Cribbs was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Richard Wood, of the 3100 block of Berkshire Road, reported that someone broke into his vehicle while it was parked near his home and removed power tools valued at more than $1,000.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of the J & I Home Improvements in the 4200 block of Mary Ave. reported that someone broke into a company-owned vehicle yesterday while it was parked near the firm and removed more than $2,000 worth of tools.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Eraina Blake, of the 5900 block of Radecke Ave., reported that she was near her home yesterday afternoon when she was assaulted by a man who struck her in the face and robbed her of $300 and two 18-inch gold chains. Police said the jewelry was valued at $700.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1800 block of E. 31st St. reported that someone broke into his home yesterday and removed a 25-inch TV set. Police said the property was valued at $500.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police yesterday arrested a 26-year-old man and were holding him at the Eastern District lockup pending charges that he broke into the warehouse of DePalo & Sons Inc. in the 4600 block of Belair Road and removed three microwave ovens.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police responded to the Burlington Coat Factory in the 1600 block of Havenwood Road and arrested a 27-year-old man who attempted to leave the store without paying for a silk shirt valued at nearly $75. Police said the man was being held at the Eastern District lockup pending theft charges.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Murray Blum, of the 1300 block of Meridene Drive, reported that someone entered the back yard of his home and stole a canoe. Police said the canoe, valued at $700, was secured to a fence with a chain, which the thief cut.

SHOOTING: Northeastern District -- Robert Funkhouser, 38, of the 4100 block of Glenarm Ave., reported that he was in the 5900 block of Belair Road around 8 p.m. yesterday when he was shot in the lower back by one of two men driving by in a car. Police said Funkhouser sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment and released.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of the Old Overlea Inn Crab House in the 6400 block of Belair Road reported that someone broke into a coin-operated poker machine and removed an undetermined sum of currency.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police today were seeking a man who entered the 7-Eleven store in the 700 block of E. 25th St. around 10 p.m. yesterday and removed the drawer from the cash register when the clerk opened it. Police said the man escaped with an undisclosed sum of money.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that two men, one armed with a handgun, accosted a couple as they walked in the 5300 block of Moravia Road late yesterday evening and robbed the man of more than $200 in cash and property. Police identified the man as Reginald Kenner, 19, of the 2200 block of Mount Holly St., and his companion as a 16-year-old resident of the 1700 block of Gorsuch Ave.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A deliveryman for Little Joe's Pizza in the 5400 block of Sinclair Lane reported that he was making a food delivery in the 4000 block of Lyndale Ave. around 10 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one armed with a handgun, who forced him to give up his money. Police said the gunman and his accomplice escaped with about $60.
