ARRESTS: Essex District -- Police arrested two men yesterday afternoon as they were about to drive away following an incident in the 200 block of Riverside Drive during which one of them attempted to kill the other with an Uzi semi-automatic machine gun. Police said William Brooks, 32, of the 400 block of Margaret Ave., and James DeJarnette, 30, of the 200 block of Wagner's Lane, were arguing in the 200 block of Riverside Drive when Brooks reportedly pulled out the Uzi and fired one shot at DeJarnette. Police said the bullet missed its mark and that both men got into a car together and were about to drive off when they were stopped by police. Police said both men were being held at the district station and were each charged with possession of a deadly weapon. In addition, Brooks is charged with the attempted murder of DeJarnette.

THEFT: Essex District -- Coleta Armstrong, of the first block of Ebbtide Court, reported that someone entered her apartment Saturday and removed a 19-inch TV set. Police said the property was valued at $300.

DRUG ARREST: Freetown Village -- Two police officers working undercover arrested a man who attempted to sell them suspected crack cocaine. Police said Officers Michael Chandler and Wayne Vernon were driving in an unmarked car when they were stopped by a man who asked what they were looking for. Police said when the two undercover officers told the man they wanted to buy $30 worth of crack, the man handed over a small plastic bag containing suspected crack. Police said that instead of giving the man money, the officers placed him under arrest and handcuffed him. Charged with possession of cocaine was Roger Harry Scott, 29, of the 1400 block of Log Inn Road in Annapolis. Police said bail information on Scott was not immediately available.

BURGLARY: Glen Burnie -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 400 block of Starwood Drive and removed hand and power tools valued at nearly $1,000. Police said entry was gained through a dining room window.
