Roland Nicholson Sr., 67, ran dry cleaners

Roland Nicholson Sr., a retired Baltimore businessman and teacher, died Friday at Sinai Hospital from complications following a stroke. He was 67.

Services for Mr. Nicholson, the owner and operator of two dry-cleaning establishments, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 1121 W. Lanvale St.

For 44 years, Mr. Nicholson and his brother, Percy, owned and operated Nicholson Bros. Dry Cleaners on Pennsylvania Avenue.

He is survived by his wife, the former Juanita Brown of Baltimore; two brothers, Percy and Alton Nicholson, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Naomi Pearson and Mary Caldwell, both of Baltimore; two sons, Roland Nicholson Jr. of New York and Howard Nicholson of Baltimore; two daughters, La Verne Nicholson Sykes and Karen Nicholson Smith, both of Baltimore; and six grandchildren.
