Interim Director Named

October 21, 1990

Alan M. Schuman, Carroll Community College's director of administration, has been recommended to serve as interim director for CCC while a committee searches for a replacement for Elizabeth D. Blake, who left the executive director post last month.

The recommendation came from Frederick J. Walsh, president of Catonsville Community College, CCC's parent institution, who also has recommended that the post be upgraded to executive dean, which he said betters reflects CCC's institutional maturity.

Walsh said the recommendations await the approval of the Baltimore County Community Colleges board of trustees, which is expected to consider the proposals at its meeting Wednesday.

Schuman, 35, will serve in a dual capacity if the recommendation is approved. Prior to joining CCC about three years ago, the Pikesville resident was an administrative analyst for the Baltimore County government Office of the Budget.

Schuman would not say whether he would seek the executive director post.

Faye Pappalardo, CCC's director of student services, will head the search committee. Walsh said the search will begin next month and expects the post to be filled by July.
