Fans' Tribute To The King Helps School For The Blind

October 21, 1990|By Staff report

If you feel like a hound dog today, you might stop by the Elvis Presley Convention at the Harford Mall in Bel Air.

D.J. Fontana is the special guest at the event, sponsored by the Welcome to Our Elvis World Fan Club. Fontana, who played drums on Elvis' recordings and concert tours, will sign autographs and talk with Elvis fans about The King.

Michael Hoover, an Alexandria, Va., performer, will provide entertainment with an "Elvis tribute," said Pat Carr, president of the fan club.

Carr said the event is being sponsored to raise money for the club's selected 1990 and 1991 charity, the Maryland School for the Blind.

The convention will feature dealers selling Elvis memorabilia, auctions of Elvis-related items, trivia contests, videos of Elvis and raffles.

The events are all scheduled for the food court area of the mall from noon to 5 p.m. today.
