Services for Emory L. Brown Jr., former president of the Vulcan-Hart Corp., will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Clynmalira United Methodist Church, 15100 Old York Road in the Phoenix area.
Mr. Brown, who was 77 and lived on Stockton Road in Phoenix, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital after an illness of about a month.
Mr. Brown was a native of Baltimore and a 1932 graduate of the Polytechnic Institute.
He began his career working in the stockroom of the kitchen equipment manufacturer, then known as Standard Gas and Equipment Corp.
When Vulcan-Hart was sold in the late 1960s, Mr. Brown became president of Walter E. Heller Industries, a group of manufacturingcompanies that included Vulcan-Hart, until his retirement in1972.
An avid golfer who belonged to the Hillendale Country Club for rTC more than 30 years, he also owned and raced thoroughbreds at Maryland tracks in the 1960s and 1970s.
Mr. Brown served as a trustee of the Clynmalira United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Selina Hughlett; a son, Emory L. Brown III of Towson; two daughters, Barbara Cole-McGann of Cockeysville and Bonita Caster of Phoenix; and eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family suggested memorial contributions to the Clynmalira United Methodist Church.
