Overlea keeps league lead with 1-1 tie

First place in Baltimore County's 2A/1A League was at stake yesterday when No. 10 Hereford tied visiting Overlea, 1-1, in boys soccer.

Hereford (6-2-2) took the lead on a first-half goal by Jeff Englemyer, but Overlea (8-1-1) tied it when Brian Livingston scored off an assist by Greg Stevenson.

Neither team scored in two overtime periods, and Overlea remained in first place.

In other 2A/1A league games, Brant Dishoff scored two goals, as host Patapsco (5-3, 5-2) edged Owings Mills (3-6, 2-4), 3-2.

Jon Giordani scored three goals in a 6-1 victory by visiting Towson (6-4, 4-1) over Pikesville (4-5, 3-4).


Amanda Deems' goal with five minutes remaining led Catonsville past visiting Parkville, 1-0.

Moe McDonough had a goal and an assist, as St. Mary's defeated host Catholic, 3-1.

Kelly Bailey and Daniel Emgee each had a goal, as Lansdowne beat visiting Randallstown, 2-1.

Courtney Bucka and Michele Palguta scored two goals each in host Franklin's 5-0 victory over Perry Hall.
