Lucy P. Benton

Lucy P. Benton, who headed the auxiliaries of two veterans organizations, died Monday at St. Agnes Hospital of complications after surgery. She was 87 and lived on Valley Road in Woodlawn.

Services for Mrs. Benton will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Howard H. Hubbard Funeral Home, 4107 Wilkens Ave.

She was a former president of the auxiliary of the Baltimore Barracks of the Veterans of World War I and of the J. William McAvoy Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The former Lucy P. True was a native of Cumberland. She came to Baltimore in 1922 with her husband, Charles L. Benton, who was a supervisor in the buildings department of the Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. He died in 1963.

Mrs. Benton is survived by her son, W. Raymond Benton of Woodlawn, and several nieces and nephews.
