A 12-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman were shot in Baltimore last night in separate incidents, and police were unsure in both cases if the victims were targets or hit by stray gunfire.

Police said the 12-year-old boy was on the sidewalk in the 2900 block of Garrison Boulevard in Northwest Baltimore about 9:30 p.m. when shots were fired by an unknown gunman.

The boy was struck once in the right thigh and was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition last night.

About the same time last night, a 19-year-old woman was shot while walking down the street in West Baltimore.

Police said Patricia Green of the 500 block of Presstman Street was walking east in the 500 block of Bloom Street when she heard gunfire. She then realized that she had been struck by a bullet in the left breast, police said.

Ms. Green was taken to University Hospital, where she was in stable condition last night.
