Twelve downtown electric customers, including the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. itself, lost power briefly today when equipment at a Monument Street substation failed.
BG&E spokeswoman Peggy Mulloy said the power went out at 7:21 a.m. and was restored to all affected customers at 7:28 a.m.
Among the customers affected by the interruption were two BG&E properties on Hillen and Front streets, the Baltimore Sun building, the Lyric Theatre, Pennsylvania Station, the district office of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Baltimore Life Insurance Co., Maryland Cup Corp., Sutton Place Apartments and several others, Mulloy said.
All those firms share the same feeder line, she said. The cause of the power failure was not known.
