Americans still want muffins and cupcakes on their dinner plates, according to a list of ten most requested "Cooking Light" magazine recipes.

Here are favorites:

Pumpkin-Oat Bran Muffins

1 1/2 cups oat bran

2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup mashed cooked pumpkin

1/2 cup skim milk

2 egg whites, beaten

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Vegetable cooking spray

Combine oat bran, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and salt in a large bowl; stir well. Make a well in center of mixture. Combine pumpkin, skim milk, egg whites and vegetable oil; stir well. Add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Spoon into muffin pans coated with cooking spray, filling two-thirds full. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from pans immediately; served warm or at room temperature.

Each muffin has 126 calories.

Chocolate Cupcakes

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup water

1/2 cup unsweetened orange juice

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon vinegar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup semisweet miniature chocolate morsels

1 teaspoon powdered sugar

Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl; make a well in center of the mixture. Add water, orange juice, vegetable oil, vinegar and vanilla extract to dry ingredients.

Fold in chocolate morsels. Spoon into paper-lined muffin pans, filling two-thirds full.

Bake in a 375-degree oven for 12 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan immediately; cool on wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Each cupcake has 163 calories.
