Special broadcast to celebrate radio host's 6 months at station

BIG DON O'BRIEN is celebrating his six-month anniversary at WYST-FM with a special show on Nov. 9, co-hosted with morning cohort, Wendy Corey, live from a listener's house.

A number of guest personalities will be on hand along with -- sitting down? -- the Colts Marching Band! Listeners who're interested in having Don and Wendy et al broadcast live from their digs, write to them by Oct. 19 and tell them why.

CLASS ACTS: A crowd of about 1,300 is expected Sunday for the Associated Managers Inc., sixth annual scholarship fund-raiser at Martin's West. The organization has helped contribute more than $133,000 to African-American organizations. Awards will be presented to Professor Jean Gillard Wicks of Bowie State and Stuart Simms, State's attorney for Baltimore City for their community and civic outreach.. . .

AROUND TOWN: Local producer and bon-vivant Vanessa Lloyd-Schafer is hosting the first in a series of events featuring young Baltimore artists this Friday night at the Governor's Club. The evening -- which will feature singer Lloyd Marcus and his "All About Love" cabaret revue -- kicks off with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by the show, dinner and dancing. It's black tie optional.
