Polimericks

October 16, 1990|By George Neff Lucas

For a decade George Bush didn't heed it,

Even helped Ronald Reagan exceed it;

Now deficit shock

Provokes him to lock

Up the government rather than lead it.

The new justice normally eats a

Polite finger snack that completes a

Brief White House tableau;

When the staff didn't show,

They could have sent out for a pizza.

Incumbents still hope by the skin

Of their teeth in November to win;

The voters, they trust,

Won't feel that they must

Throw old rascals out, new ones in.

Duke knew what the South was about:

As demagogue he was devout;

But his Senate foray

Redefined KKK

As the sign of a side striking out.
