Mass of Christian burial for Georg von Birgelen, a professional skater whose work ranged from producing an ice show to operating a skate shop, will be offered at 11 a.m. today at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles St.

Mr. von Birgelen, who was was 75 and lived on East 33rd Street, died Monday after collapsing at the Northwest Ice Rink.

He had operated Von's Custom Skate Shop for the last six years at the rink, where he had coached for a decade. Until 1984, he and his wife, the former Eileen Meade, produced their own ice show, "Symphony on Ice." The couple made Baltimore their base in 1959 after Mr. von Birgelen was named the first manager of the Memorial Stadium Ice Rink.

Born and educated in Switzerland, Mr. von Birgelen won European championships in skating on stilts and jumping.

In addition to his wife, his survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Graf of Zurich, Switzerland, and several nieces and nephews.
