Virginia L. Mayers Worked at drug firm

Services for Virginia L. Mayers, a former research associate at a pharmaceutical firm in Baltimore, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Koch Funeral Home in State College, Pa.

Mrs. Mayers died of cancer Saturday at a hospital in State College, where she had lived since 1971. She was 62.

From the early 1950s to 1965, she lived in the Baltimore area and worked for Merck Sharp & Dohme. The former Virginia Lytle was a native of Salisbury and a graduate of the Elkton High School. At the University of Pennsylvania, she earned a bachelor's degree in 1949 and a master's degree in 1951.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley P. Mayers Jr.; four sons, Dr. Douglas L. Mayers of Gaithersburg, Kenneth S. Mayers of Paris, Daniel J. Mayers of New York and Andrew W. Mayers of Lewistown, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
