Falcons, Pats Top Finishers In Hereford Meet

The Severna Park girls and the Old Mill boys cross-country teams placed third and sixth respectively, earning the top spots among county teams in the "A" races at the 20th Hereford Invitational Cross-Country Classic, run in Baltimore County.

In the girls bracket, Falcon harrier Fran Mackney placed fourth -- the highest of any county female entered. Teammates Megan Ambrose (seventh), Kerry Lindenmeyer (28th), Kerri Hindenfelter (29th), Cindi Symancyk (36th) and Stephanie Keefer (44th) all received ribbons.

Cindy Silate of Glen Burnie took sixth place, while Old Mill (eighth overall) placed Marisa Sanders (13th), Jodi German (41st), Karen Jacobson (43rd), Leanne Denton (62nd) and Tiffany Jones (73rd).

Janine MacMillan of Chesapeake finished 34th.

Old Mill's Scott Boetig (sixth) was the top county finisher in the boys race, and Glen Burnie's Sheridan Snedden was seventh.

Patriots Dan Cavanaugh (46th), Brad Boetig, (56th), Aaron Catlin (73rd) and Shawn Black (80th) all turned in ribbon-winning performances.

Severna Park's top runner was Brian Kaupa, who placed 21st. Teammates Jim Jankowski and Matt Parvis finished 39th and 45th, respectively. The Falcons were seventh in overall boys team competition.

Annapolis' Eric Van Gieson and Jonathan Pomerance placed 13th and 50th, respectively, as the Panthers placed 12th overall.
