Columbus Cup facts

The starting time and site for the opening ceremonies of the Columbus Cup sailing matches were listed incorrectly in Sunday's editions of The Sun. The ceremonies will begin at 11:30 a.m. today at the Inner Harbor Finger Piers.

The Sun regrets the errors.

What: Cadillac Columbus Cup, a round-robin series of match races among eight yachts representing teams from seven countries.

Where: The racing will be held on a windward-leeward course off the mouth of the Patapsco River on Chesapeake Bay. Pre-race and post-race activities will be centered at the HarborView Marina and Yacht Club and at the finger piers (Baltimore II docks) in the Inner Harbor.

When: The series starts Wednesday at 11 a.m., with races beginning at five-minute intervals, and continues through Saturday when the top two teams sail a best-of-three final series.

TV: ESPN will carry a taped program on the regatta Nov. 25 at 3 p.m.

Daily schedule

Tomorrow: Skippers' meeting at 9 a.m.; opening ceremonies at HarborView Marina and Yacht Club, 10:15 a.m.; Ambassador's Regatta, 2:10 p.m. in the harbor.

Tuesday: Practice day for Columbus Cup crews.

Wednesday through Saturday: J/44s leave docks for race course at 9 a.m.; warning signal for first race at 11 a.m.; start of first race, 11:10 a.m.
