County police have charged a Severn man with attempted murder after police said he beat a Fort Meade man with a golf club.

William Robert Grizzard, 21, of the 900 block of Evergreen Road, was picked up at his home Monday night, county police homicide investigator Sgt. Thomas Suit said.

He was being held last night in the County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.

Army Pfc. Michael Moss, 20, was beaten Aug. 20 outside the House of Jose bar on Old Telegraph Road at about 11:30 p.m. when he offered to help a woman who was arguing with another man.

The man who beat Moss, along with the woman and another man, sped off in an Chevrolet IROC Camaro after the attack, police said.

Suit said newspaper reports of the incident led police to the assailant.

"We received information from people that knew who owed the IROC that frequented the bar," Suit said. "We weeded through it and it led us to the woman who led us to the man."

Moss was left partially paralyzed with a speech impediment from the attack.

An Annapolis man was beaten with a bat Friday night outside a city gas station, police reported.

Annapolis police said Arthur Barr, of the unit block Spa Road, was outside the Crown Gas Station on West Street about 8:45 p.m. talking with his brother, who worked there.

A man with a baseball bat pulled into the parking lot and began cursing at Barr's nieces, the police said.

Barr asked the man to stop, and the man challenged him to a fight. Barr refused and left the station. The man followed Barr as he was walking home and hit him in the back of the head with the baseball bat, police said.

A witness followed the man, then gave police a description of a car that officers later stopped on Church Street.

Linwood NcKenzie Gibson, 24, of the 100 block Obrey Court in Annapolis, was charged with assault with intent to murder.

Two Severn women were stabbed during an argument over money Monday, county police reported.

Glenda Anne White, 19, and Carolyn Anne Boone, 16, both of the 1700 block Meade Circle Road, were treated at North Arundel Hospital after the 10:25 p.m. incident.

Police said the two women and a man were arguing over money in a home in the 1700 block Meade Circle Road when the man reportedly stabbed White in the back and cut Boone on the face.

Police would not release the name of the suspect in the case.
