Christmas countdown offers advance advice

HOMEMADE HOLIDAY

October 03, 1990|By Sherrie Clinton | Sherrie Clinton,Evening Sun Staff

THERE ARE JUST 12 short weeks between now and Christmas.

Each week we'll run a collection of recipes you can make and store in your gift larder.

Planning ahead means avoiding the Christmas rush, but it also means you'll be able to give your friends and family gifts straight from your heart.

This is our second Christmas countdown collection. Some of our most popular features will return from last year, including homemade cordials and miniature cakes, but with all new recipes. There will also be some changes. For example, this year we will include recipes for Christmas chocolates and homemade cheeseballs.

Each week we'll include preparation and storage tips and gift-giving sugestions.

* This year we are holding our own Christmas cookie exchange. Send us a copy of your favorite cookie recipe and the story behind it. We'll run as many of them as we can on Nov. 28.

Send your recipes to Sherrie Clinton, Food Editor, The Evening Sun, 501 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, Maryland, 21278.

* Copies of last year's Christmas Countdown recipes and articles are available on a limited basis. If you would like to receive a booklet containing the entire 12 part series, please send $3 check or money order to: Article Reprints, The Baltimore Sun Public Affairs Dept., 501 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, Md. 21278-0001.
