October 03, 1990

First Thursdays, the monthly series of art gallery openings along the Charles Street corridor, will include a free concert by the Junior League Larks this evening at Old St. Paul's Rectory, Saratoga and Cathedral streets.

Scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, First Thursdays was created in 1985 to develop and showcase visual arts businesses along Charles Street. The promotional program now includes music performances, expanded shopping hours and dining discounts in downtown's "arts neighborhood."

The 16 galleries hosting special receptions this week are The Katzenstein Gallery at Scarlett Place, The Dalsheimer Gallery, Gallery 409/Eubie Blake Cultural Arts Center, Craig Flinner Gallery, Cartuche, Steven Scott Gallery, Tomlinson Craft Collection, C. Grimaldis Gallery and C. Grimaldis Gallery -- Sculpture Space, The Walters Art Gallery, Meredith Gallery, Partners Art and Framing, AIA-Baltimore, Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland Art Place and BAUhouse.

Most of the galleries are in the area bounded by the 300 and 1100 blocks of Charles street.
