The budget issue is simple: They have to stop running the country as if it was an insolvent savings and loan. Otherwise, it will end up like one, taken over by a larger institution.

There is no oil shortage. The industry anticipates one. The price is going up out of faith that it will go up.

"Twin Peaks" is a great put-on. But that's an awful lot of time out of your life to devote to a put-on.

As they say in Hollywood, "An X by any other name . . . "
