Baltimore City

CHASE: Northwestern District -- Police pursuing the driver oa motorcycle after seeing him take part in a drug deal in the first block of N. Gilmor St. around 10 p.m. yesterday chased the cyclist to Denison Street and Sequoia Avenue, where he dropped the vehicle on the ground and vaulted a fence on the property of Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke. Police said the suspect, who was wearing an orange and black checkered jacket, ran across the mayor's property and jumped a second fence before entering the Ashburton Woods Apartments, where police lost sight of him. Police said no damage was done to the mayor's property.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone entered the rear yard of a home in the 4900 block of Morello Road and removed a bike valued at more than $100.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Mary Holland, 31, of the 2700 block of Tivoly Ave., reported that during an argument in her home yesterday with a man she knows the man picked up a caliber rifle and pointed it at her. Holland told police that when she pushed the weapon's barrel away from her, it went off. Police said the bullet missed hitting Holland, who fled the house and summoned help. Later, police entered the house and arrested James E. McNeil, 59, a resident of the house, and charged him with aggravated assault. Police said McNeil was held overnight at the Eastern District pending a bail hearing.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Timothy Brown reported that he was in the 4500 block of Freedomway North around 11 p.m. yesterday when he was assaulted by two men who knocked him to the ground and robbed him of $75 and his security guard identification.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Neva Mumuh, 26, of the 2400 block of Perring Manor Road, reported that someone entered his home and removed a VCR. Police said the property was valued at nearly $500 and that a man known to Mumuh is being sought in connection with the theft.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Bette Smith, of the 3500 block of Southern Ave., reported that while her car was parked in the 6200 block of Belair Road someone broke into the vehicle and removed a cellular phone. Police said the telephone was valued at more than $1,000 and that entry was gained by breaking a window.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a city-owned vehicle while it was parked outside Lake Clifton Senior High School in the 2800 block of St. Lo Drive and removed an electric saw and drill. Police said the power tools were valued at $300.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Janice Anderson, of the 6400 block of Loch Raven Blvd., reported that she was walking in the 2900 block of Hamilton Ave. around 2 p.m. yesterday when she was approached from behind by a man who stole the purse she was carrying. Police said the man fled the scene on foot with cash and property valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5200 block of Darien Road reported that someone broke into her home through the front window and removed a TV set, a VCR, stereo equipment, several pieces of jewelry and clothing. Police said the property was valued at more than $5,000.

ARREST: Northeastern District -- -- Police responding to the Valu Food store in the 4200 block of Frankford Ave. arrested a 29-year-old man who attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise valued at nearly $30. Police said the man was being held at the Eastern District pending charges and a bail hearing.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5400 block of Belair Road reported that someone stole her bike after she left it unattended and unlocked near her home. Police said the bike was valued at $50.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Robert Gischel, of the 4300 block of Parkwood Ave., reported that while his pickup truck was parked near his home someone entered the rear of the vehicle by opening the cap door and removed hand and power tools valued at more than $1,700.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Eierman Ave. reported that someone broke into his home by removing a pane of glass from a basement door and removed property valued at nearly $3,600.

THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a 30-year-old man yesterday and were holding him at the Eastern District pending charges that he attempted to leave the Food Fresh store in the 2400 block of Belair Road without paying for more than $20 worth of tooth paste and deodorant. Police said the man was detained by a store security officer prior to the arrival of uniformed district officers.

THEFT: Central District -- Joyce Hunter, of the 1500 block of Pentwood Road, reported that while her car was parked in the 1300 block of Guilford Ave. someone broke into the vehicle and removed property valued at $400.
