The Evening Sun yesterday asked its readers what they thought about the proposal of the State Board of Education to extend the school year by 20 days by 1995.
When asked if they favor a 200-day school year, more readers of The Evening Sun and other callers to SUNDIAL were against the proposal, 1,219 to 316. On the question of whether a longer school year would improve education, 1,177 callers said it would not, while 335 thought it would. When asked if they would be willing to pay more for a longer year if it provided students a better education, 335 callers said yes, while 1,116 said no.
