William Connelly Jr.

William L. Connelly Jr., 65, a retired machinery filter salesman who had owned a filter company, died Tuesday at Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury after he had a heart attack while on vacation in Ocean City.

He had lived in the Pittsburgh area for the past 15 years.

A memorial mass for Mr. Connelly will be offered at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Passionist Monastery Church, Old Frederick Road and Monastery Avenue.

The Baltimore native was a graduate of the Polytechnic Institute and Tulane University. He earned a master's degree from Syracuse University.

He retired nine years ago after about five years as a salesman for the V.L. Towner Co. in Pittsburgh.

He served as an officer in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Ross Township Council in the Pittsburgh area and the Elks.

Mr. Connelly is survived by his wife, the former Shirley O'Brien; and four sons, Dr. Mark Connelly of Lancaster, Pa., the Rev. John Connelly of Downers Grove, Ill., David S. Connelly of Wilmette, Ill., and William L. Connelly III of Chicago.
