Steven H. Star, 51, a consultant, author and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management, died of lung cancer Tuesday in Cambridge, Mass. He was director of the Marketing Center at MIT and editor in chief of the Sloan Management Review. He was the co-author of "Organization Strategy: A Marketing Approach" in 1970, senior author of "Problems in Marketing" in 1977 and co-author with Glen L. Urvan of "Advanced Marketing Strategy" which is due out this month. From 1965 to 1978, he taught at the Harvard Business School. He was a consultant who specialized in corporate strategy and marketing, especially in the news media. He also taught marketing in the advanced management program at Oxford University.
