September 23, 1990

County Executive M. Elizabeth Bobo, who originally accepted Republican challenger Charles I. Ecker's invitation to a series of three public forums, has told Ecker she cannot attend the forums because of scheduling problems.

Ecker sent Bobo his invitation the day after he won the Sept. 11 primary against Republican Gil South. It invited the incumbent to forums on Sept.

25 at Glenelg High School, Oct. 8 at Centennial High School and Oct. 30 at Hammond High School.

Because of "previous commitments," Bobo told Ecker in a Sept. 17 letter that she could meet him only at five forums she had previously planned to attend.

Those forums, which Ecker said he would also attend, will be held by the Savage Community Association on Oct. 2, the Hammond Village Community Association on Oct. 4, the Howard County Citizen's Association on Oct. 9, the Heritage Community Association on Oct. 12 and a final forum on Oct. 27 conducted by the American Association of University Women, Association of Community Services, county County Commission for Women, county League of Women Voters, National Council of Jewish Women, National Council of Negro Women, Patuxent Business and Professional Women and Senior Advocates of Howard County.
