Baltimore City

SHOOTING: Western District -- Police reported that Antonio DeShield, 18, of the 3800 block of Copley Road, was standing outside the entrance to the Metro in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. around 8 p.m. yesterday when he was approached by a man who shot him in the throat with a handgun. Several passers-by went to DeShield's aid while others called police and reported the shooting. Police said DeShield was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was listed today in stable condition. Police have made no arrests and have no motive for the shooting.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- A resident of the 6100 block of Toone St. reported that someone broke into her home yesterday between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. and removed a 27-inch TV set valued at $800. Entry was gained through an unlocked door.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Police reported that the occupant of a house in the 2600 block of Eastern Ave. was present early yesterday when he heard someone breaking into his home. Police said the intruder saw the occupant and fled without taking any property. Police said entry was gained through a kitchen window.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Employees of the Canton Square Deli in the 2900 block of O'Donnell St. reported that someone removed an undisclosed sum of money from the cash register after apparently hiding inside the store between Tuesday night and yesterday morning.

SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- Gregory Nealy, of the 2600 block of W. Cold Spring Lane, reported that he was in the 700 block of Ensor St. around 2:30 p.m. yesterday when the occupant of a passing blue car fired a shot from a weapon and struck him in the right leg. Police said the car drove off and that Nealy was taken to the Francis Scott Key Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Ethel Zelenske, of the 3700 block of Rexmere Road, reported that she was walking in the first block of S. Front St. around 5:30 p.m. yesterday when she was approached from behind by two men who stole the purse she was carrying. Police said the men fled the scene on foot with cash and property, all valued at nearly $80.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Police reported that Ellen Pelley, of the 700 block of N. Kenwood Ave., was walking in the 600 block of N. Madeira Ave. shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday when a man riding by on a bike stopped and attempted to steal her purse while threatening to shoot her. Police said that while Pelley and the man struggled for the purse, the man pulled out an unknown-caliber handgun and struck Pelley. Police said the bike rider rode off with the woman's purse containing $60 in cash and personal property.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Paul Provenzano, of the 5000 block of Federal St., reported that while his car was parked near his home yesterday someone broke into the vehicle and removed tools valued at more than $100. Police said entry was gained by forcing open a rear door.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Lois Craig, 34, of the 3400 block of Ravenwood Ave., reported that during an incident at her home with a man she knows she was stabbed in the neck with a fork. Police said Craig was not seriously injured and that the man was being sought.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A 15-year-old resident of the 2600 block of Kirk Ave. reported that she was in the 1500 block of Carswell St. yesterday when she was attacked by several other teen-age girls. Police said that during the attack, one of the girls reached into the victim's mouth and removed a gold tooth. Police said the girls fled and that the tooth was valued at more than $200.

THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to the K mart store in the 5100 block of Sinclair Lane arrested a female resident of the 1400 block of N. Bond St. who attempted to leave the store without paying for several pieces of clothing. Police said the woman was held overnight at the Women's Detention Center at the Central District pending charges and a bail hearing. Police said a summons was expected to be issued against a second woman involved in the shoplifting.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Robin Eshelman, of the 1300 block of Roxboro Road in the Rosedale section of Baltimore County, reported that he was in the 3200 block of Fenwick Ave. around 10 p.m. yesterday when he was accosted by two men, one armed with a long-barreled rifle, who demanded he give up his money. Police said Eshelman gave up $4 to the gunman and his accomplice, who fled the scene on foot.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- John Hardesty, of the 5300 block of Portsmouth Road in the Windsor section of western Baltimore County, reported that while his car was parked on the lot at Memorial Stadium in the 1000 block of E. 33rd St. last night during the baseball game between the Orioles and the Boston Red Sox someone broke into the vehicle and removed a cellular phone valued at $500.
